A. Complimenting

Compliment is an expression to appreciate or praise other people. Compliment is useful to give encouragement so that people will keep on doing their best and even improve their performance.

(Compliment adalah sebuat ungkapan untuk mengapresiasi atau memuji orang lain. Pujian atau apresiasi sangat penting untuk memberikan semangat kepada orang lain sehingga mereka akan tetap konsisten mempertahankan prestasi dan meningkatkan kemampuannya.)

Formulas for Giving Complimentsc(Rumus giving complaint) 

Formula 1: 

Many compliments can be created by following one of these formulas:

1.      Your + Noun Phrase + is/looks + (really) + Adjective

- Your dress is really elegant.

- Your hair looks great!

2.      I + (really) + like/love + Noun Phrase

- I really like your earrings.

- I love this vegetable soup!

3.       This/That + is + (really) + Adjective + Noun Phrase

- This is a really nice painting.

- That’s an awesome car.

4.      What a/an + Adjective + No

Contoh : What a beautiful view. 

Formula 2: 

1. How + Adjective + Noun + is/are

How beautiful your dress is
How fancy your cars are
How tasty your pizza is

2. What + Adjective + Noun.

Contoh:

What a big house!
What a wonderful world!
What a beautiful day!


3. Noun Phrase + is/look + (really) + Adjective.

Contoh:

Your suit is really shiny
His acting is awesome


4. Noun/Pronoun + (really) + like/love + Noun Phrase.

Contoh:

I like your cooking a lot.
We love your cocktail party.

5. Pronoun + is + (really) + Adjective + Noun Phrase.

Contoh:

That is a really cute sunglasses
This is a pretty flower

When to express compliment:

(kapan mengekspresikan pujian)

-      On daily basis, (sehari-hari) -     When someone has done his/her best, (Ketika seseorang telah melakukan  yang terbaik) -     When you visit someone’s house for the first time, (Ketika anda mengunjungi rumah seseorang kali pertama). -     If you notice something new about someone’s appearance.
